Free International University of Moldova, member of the United Nations Initiative "Academic Impact" (UNAI)

On January 24, 2020, Free International University of Moldova became a member of the United Nations 'Academic Impact' (UNAI) initiative, joining 1300 other prestigious academic institutions and research centers in over 130 countries. ULIM is the only institution in the Republic of Moldova that is part of this network, which will participate in approaching and identifying solutions to global problems in a unique international framework for dialogue and cooperation.

UNAI is a programme of the Outreach Division of the United Nations Department of Global Communications. UNAI aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing, through research and education, to the realization of the Organization’s goals and mandates, which are:

1. A commitment to addressing issues of poverty through education.

2. A commitment to building capacity in higher education systems across the world.

3. A commitment to educational opportunity for all people regardless of gender, race, religion or ethnicity.

4. A commitment to encouraging global citizenship through education.

5. A commitment to the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the pursuit of higher education.

6. A commitment to human rights, among them freedom of inquiry, opinion, and speech.

7. A commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding, and the “unlearning” of intolerance, through education.

8. A commitment to advancing peace and conflict resolution through education.

9. A commitment to promoting sustainability through education.

10. A commitment to the principles inherent in the United Nations Charter.

UNAI members are required to foster and promote these principles on campus and in their communities by involving faculty, staff and students in undertaking at least one new activity each year which actively addresses at least one of these ten basic principles. UNAI is aided in its work to advance these principles by Global Hubs, UNAI member institutions that focus on a particular principle in their own activities and in cooperation with other members.
