Visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to ULIM

On February 18th, 2020, H. E. Kęstutis Kudzmanas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova, accompanied by Andrej Didenko, Deputy Chief of Mission and Dainius Kazlauskas, Lithuania's military attaché has paid a visit to ULIM. The delegation met with the administration of ULIM, represented by the Rector, Associate professor, Dr. Ilian Galben, vice-rector for International Relations, Associate professor, Dr. Valentina Ciumacenco and vice-rector for Scientific Research and Doctoral Studies, University professor, Dr. hab. Elena Prus.

The dialogue focused on aspects related to make new perspectives for the realization of projects and partnerships with the educational centers from Lithuania, exploring the possibility of establishing an innovative, competitive and attractive framework for students and teachers. In this context, the Rector Ilian Galben has expressed a message of appreciation and gratitude, for openness and fruitful collaboration over time, on the academic field.

On the occasion of the National Day of Lithuania, which is celebrated on February 16, H. E. Kęstutis Kudzmanas held a public lecture "30 years since the restoration of Lithuania's independence: achievements and current challenges « in the "Lithuania Classroom"  from ULIM. The young students had the opportunity to learn more about the Republic of Lithuania, a country that represents an eloquent example for the Republic of Moldova, regarding the continuous process of modernization and democratization.

The ambassador evoked the phases of social and political evolution, which led to the acquisition of a wonderful experience in the development of fields such as: education, politics, economy, industry, infrastructure, energy security, defense system and so on. Also at the meeting, Lithuania's military attaché Dainius Kazlauskas spoke about Lithuania as a NATO member, highlighting the costs, military, economic and social benefits. The students appreciated the presentation as being valuable and full of interest, by actively participating in the question and answer session.

We remind that 10 years ago, on January 27, 2010, the ceremony of inauguration of the Lithuania Classroom was held at ULIM, chaired by the guest of honor Mr. Andrius Kubilius, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania and H. E. Violeta Motulaitė, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Chisinau. The opening ceremony of the Lithuania Classroom was followed by a public lecture "20 years of regained independence", held by H. E. Violeta Motulaitė.
