On January 24, 2020, the International Free University of Moldova became a member of the United Nations “Academic Impact” (UNAI) initiative, joining 1,300 other prestigious academic institutions and research centers from over 130 countries. ULIM is the only institution from the Republic of Moldova that is part of this network, which will participate in addressing and identifying solutions for global problems in a unique international framework of dialogue and cooperation.

UNAI is a program of the Information Division of the United Nations Department of Global Communications. The purpose of UNAI is to align higher education institutions with the United Nations initiative and to create an international academic community that supports and promotes the 10 principles of the United Nations:

  • Commitment to the Charter of the United Nations
  • Human rights
  • Providing educational opportunities for all
  • Sustainability
  • Capacity building in higher education systems
  • Global citizenship
  • Peace and conflict resolution
  • Addressing poverty
  • Providing opportunities for higher education to every interested person
  • Discouraging/Combating Intolerance

UNAI members are committed to promoting the principles stated above in the campus and in the communities, by involving the faculties, the university staff and directly the students, in the realization of the annual activities that are focused on the approach of the principles of the United Nations and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
