📎The event brought together representatives of the academic environment, civil society and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, International Relations and Journalism, ULIM
📝The “Explanatory security glossary” was developed within the project “Civil society support in countering disinformation associated with national security policies”, implemented with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Moldova and the Lithuanian Cooperation for Development and aims to elucidate terms in the field security, which are most often subject to misinterpretation and/or misinformation.
✅️The guest of honor at the event, E.S. Tadas Valionis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova emphasized the importance of this Glossary in an unstable security environment where disinformation has a considerable impact on national security.
☑️Present at the event, Ms. Valentina Ciumacenco, ULIM International Relations Vice-Chancellor, Ms. Ludmila Coadă, university associate. and Mr. George Balan, President of the George C. Marshall Moldova Association, congratulated the Platform for Security Initiatives and the team of authors, mentioning the importance and usefulness of the Glossary both for the academic environment and for the general public, the glossary being useful not only for students and pupils, but also for the general public. Knowing the fundamental notions in the field contributes significantly to the development and promotion of the security culture, and the Explanatory Security Glossary is a first step in this regard.
First year student Alina Isac voiced the opinion of the students towards the Glossary, considering it extremely useful in university studies due to its accessible language and attractive design.
‼️The following contributed to the development of the explanatory security glossary: ​​Elena Marzac, Sanda Sandu, Radu Burduja, Rodica Panta Pisarencu and Ana Negru.
📎At the end of the event, PISA offered some copies for the ULIM Library and Economic Information Department, and the students in the organized question contest were able to enrich their personal library with a Glossary each.
‼️We want to express our gratitude for the support provided by Lietuvos ambasada Moldovoje / Embassy of Lithuania in Moldova and LT AID/Lithuanian Cooperation for Development for the support provided in promoting the security culture in the Republic of Moldova, ULIM – the International Free University of Moldova and the Department of Library and Economic Information ULIM for the support offered in organizing today’s event and to the media partner TVR Moldova for the collaboration.
The glossary can be consulted in the Reading Room no. II of DIB ULIM. It will soon be distributed to PISA partner universities in the country.
